Farm Landing

Farm Landing

Sometimes a feel like a city astronaut who landed on the farm moon. Here I am, this rhinestone urban cowgirl at the Cat and Cactus “farm”… not sure what I’m doing, but I’m ready to learn. Aside from “growing” a “Catcus”… I’ll need a lot of instruction. I am glad I had so much time […]

Pending and Packing

Pending and Packing

And so it begins… the page is turning… we are moving on to the next chapter. I found myself wanting to text my mama and tell her all about what was going on today. Reality stings. Holidays are always hard times of year for those who have lost someone. I wish I was better about […]

Goodbye October

Goodbye October

This month has been a crazy, dreary, rainy, emotional roller-coaster, but we are ever so thankful to see the sun again… and the light at the end of the tunnel. The sunshine has returned after torrential Texas rains (thankfully we weren’t flooded, but that is in large part due to the fact that we chose […]

In Honor of Her Birthday

In Honor of Her Birthday

Just a note today to say belated Happy Birthday to my sweet grandma who died of colon cancer (stage 4) in 1995. In her case, she found out she had late stage cancer (stage 4) and had postponed going to the doctor for a long while even though she had suspicions that she was very […]

One Year Without My Mama

One Year Without My Mama

Today was the day my mama was found last year, so I shared this on Instagram today in her honor. I had a dream yesterday morning at the time she most likely died according to the coroner. At about 5am my 7 year old came in to wake me because Daddy wanted me to drive […]

Homeschool Hacks for the Library … and a Grief Observed

Homeschool Hacks for the Library … and a Grief Observed

I’ve spent the last few days cataloging my book cases on GoodReads. I discovered recently that the app allows you to scan books with your smart phone by the UPC or the front cover “art”. I tried it out, mesmerized by how well it worked. I would say about 1 of 20 books on my […]

One Week After the Texas Homeschool Coalition Convention…

One Week After the Texas Homeschool Coalition Convention…

I was clueless as to what all last year would bring me in the hot July summer as I set out to the Texas Homeschool Coalition Convention last year. As their photographer, it has been an event that we have looked forward to as a family for nearly a decade now, and I have grown […]

Spritti Who?

Howdy. I'm Heather.

I'm a Christian Wife, Foodie, Writer, Homeschool Teacher, Artist....

OH YEAH, I'm also a Professional Event, Portrait, Art & Wedding Photographer - (which currently is the only job I get paid for).

I'm also a DIY amateur, Gourmet Cook on a mission to eat clean with good reason - I was diagnosed with colon cancer in August of 2016 (read: bona-fide health nut), and I have a cacti collection that is bordering on a business... a hobby farm we are just now beginning as a new adventure for our family... and of course, as you might expect living in rattlesnake country, I'm a gun-toting Native Texan (Yeehaw!)

I've been trapping Google-searchers here since 2005.

Bless your little heart. I'm so glad you stopped by.
