Welcome to the Wordless Wednesday (oops) Edition of the (normally on a Tuesday) Carnival of Homeschooling! If you are new to ‘blog carnivals’, please read the link at the bottom of this post to find out more. This post has many links that take you off-site to other homeschool blogs where you can read their ‘showcased’ article submission.
If you would like to submit an article for a future carnival or host the carnival on your site, please see the bottom section to find out how. Each carnival writer has the option to put their compilation to a ‘theme’ if they so choose. Being a little absorbed with our crazy life lately, I just couldn’t get it together yesterday when it was due… so Wordless Wednesday it is! Of course, the people who submitted links are not just sending in Wordless Wednesday submissions – they are actual homeschooling posts for the most part. I’m really OK with letting THEM do the talking (I went to bed at 5am last night with a severe case of insomnia).
WHAT IS WORDLESS WEDNESDAY, ANYWAY?
If you have been blogging for any length of time, you’ve probably seen it… a meme that other bloggers participate in where they share pictures and few, if any, words on Wednesday. There are even variations of the theme where people are “Wordful” or “Watchful” or whatever. If you like link-ups, you can even share your post on the Wordless Wednesday meme page.
I never could quite post my images without a word, so I usually added a short poem or something. The point, I think is to reflect and let the image do the talking. It’s also a nice break from having to come up with a meaty article for those bloggers who spend a lot of time on content. Either way, no one can resist the loveliness of a picture. Join me as I share a few between the links below.
Now for the rest of the Carnival…
Every blogger, like every photo, is unique and interesting. Please click over and read these links that were shared with us today. Please also leave a comment to let these fine folks know you appreciate their contribution to the homeschooling community online with their blogs. Isn’t it great to have a community of people to share with and glean from online? I love my homeschool friends and mentors that I have met through blogging. { Note to said friends: Sometimes you might find yourself on my version of the Carnival of Homeschooling JUST because I love you. }

Another great way to twist your Wordless Wednesday is to use the Ann Voskamp 1000 Gift Challenge. I see a lot of folks sharing their blessings via images on Instagram. [ This particular photo is my very favorite pie in the whole world… from Monument Cafe. It tastes like dark chocolate, whip cream heaven and has a spiced pecan crust. No gluten – but I’m sure it has plenty of sugar. I’m going to figure out how to make this at home one day so I don’t have to wait for weeks on end to go get a slice. ]

OTHER PEOPLE’S PICTURES
I used a screen shot of my favorites on IG to create this image. Just be sure that you give proper credit to the actual photographer if you use their images. If I was to single out one of these to use in a blog post (not just a tiny thumbnail), I would ask permission to use it on my site. Even a thumbnail deserves credit! See the info below to get credits for the collage images in this post!

CHEATIN’ THE WORDLESS-WEDNESDAY SYSTEM
Here’s a nice little way to cheat the Wordless Wednesday system. I know you list makers and typography-lovers out there need a few cheats now and then.

OTHER WAYS TO SNEAK THE WORDS IN
I created this image on my iPhone (as you might have guessed by the square shape of it). There are a number of apps that allow you to add words to your image. Here are a few of my favorites: Rhonna, inStatus, Text Camera, A Beautiful Mess, Instanote, Overgram, InstaFonts, Phonto, Halftone, Labelbox, InstaThoughts, and Wordswag.

THE WHOLE WORLD
The “sky” is the limit when you are taking a photo for Worldless Wednesday. Anything in the world goes. Just keep it family friendly for the homeschool kids looking over mama’s shoulders, mkay?

LET THE PICTURE TELL THE STORY
I’m not sure anyone can’t understand what these pictures mean. They mean mama is unhappy, that’s what. There’s something to be said for those early Kindergarten picture chore charts. Sometimes I think teenagers could benefit from them, too.

MACRO VIEW
Sometimes the regular things we take for granted – right under our noses – make the best images. Stopping to see the details (where they say God is hiding) is a great way to bring ordinary life into perspective. There’s a group on IG called “NOI” – meaning : “Nothing is Ordinary”. You’ll find the most amazing photos on there; some that really make you rethink the familiar. In Homeschooling, sometimes we need to look closer at the little accomplishments each day and visualize those successes – instead of worrying about the list of things left unchecked. I can’t wait to see what you cook up on your blog next Wednesday to wow us with! Whew! What a lot of W words.
