Remembering Others on Independence Day

humvee

A few years ago, my husband was in Iraq as a contractor. I know what it feels like to have someone you love in harm’s way. I look back on those days now with thankfulness that he is home and a respect for our military that all of us should share. The men and women from the USA that are serving us so selflessly overseas are brave heroes. On this day, as no other, we should remember the blood that has been shed since the birth of this nation … by those who (like Jesus) were willing to sacrifice their own lives and comfort for the sake of freedom and liberty for all. I’ll be thinking of our military, missionaries and contractors who are overseas today.

I pray that the Lord lets freedom ring; all around this lovely world He made. I pray He brings all of our friends and family overseas home safely.

Happy 4th of July.

Great post, Heather! I wasn’t sure what to say on my blog (yeah, like I’m ever at a loss for words), but I did end out with something after all.

My husband was thinking about his dad – he served in WWII and the Korean War. So he was reading an interesting account on the internet today of a man who went back to the Normandy region many years later. He’s missing his dad a lot today.

There’ve been so many sacrifices on so many levels throughout the history of our nation. I think one of the biggest things is that we never forget all that has been given. Tell your hubby “thanks” from our family! And thank YOU for being his supportive wife as he served.

    Have a blessed 4th!

blessings to you. Hope all is well.
I have been very blessed for my children to have a relationship with my grandpa, who served in WWII. Amanda got to do his service album a few months back and presented it to him on his anniversary. It was so touching to see him go through it and totally appreciate all of her hard work.
    have a great week!

Spritti Who?

Howdy. I'm Heather.

I'm a Christian Wife, Foodie, Writer, Homeschool Teacher, Artist....

OH YEAH, I'm also a Professional Event, Portrait, Art & Wedding Photographer - (which currently is the only job I get paid for).

I'm also a DIY amateur, Gourmet Cook on a mission to eat clean with good reason - I was diagnosed with colon cancer in August of 2016 (read: bona-fide health nut), and I have a cacti collection that is bordering on a business... a hobby farm we are just now beginning as a new adventure for our family... and of course, as you might expect living in rattlesnake country, I'm a gun-toting Native Texan (Yeehaw!)

I've been trapping Google-searchers here since 2005.

Bless your little heart. I'm so glad you stopped by.
