I made it from 1304 back to 1200 today. During Math time. Mom was here to help with the little schoolies. We had soup for lunch. Like you needed to know that.
Sorry for the randomness of this post, but I’m feeling distressed by an overwhelming number of things I really need to be doing right now… and I’m not. I’m stuck on this blog party like white on rice, baby. This stuff really isn’t good for your health. Blogging, I mean.
I know this. You wanna know how? I went to the doctor yesterday. They told me I needed to take medicine for GERD. Great. There went those enchiladas, and the rest of the hot and spicy foods I love the most. I heart jalapeños. The doctor said that a “sedentary lifestyle” (ie: butt in chair) is not good for your digestive tract. Age doesn’t help, either – nor does gaining some weight (which is brought on by age and slowing metabolism… vicious cycle!). Another culprit besides blogging, of course – would be GREASY FOODS. WHAT??? You mean that I can’t eat at McDonald’s once a week and stay healthy? I thought that if they have salads on their menu, they were “new and improved”??? Too bad I usually order the BIG AND TASTY. I don’t care what you think about it… I do think it is tasty. I guess our weekly trips for fast food on the nights we are out and about will have to come to a grinding halt. Better to give that up than blogging. Stinks to be forced in to dietary changes. Now I know what my poor friend Amy feels like who discovered this year that she has a deathly allergy to gluten. I’m feelin’ her pain. But at least it wasn’t my heart (as I had suspected).
I really don’t want to take medicine so I can eat… and not get cancer of the throat. But alas… for now, I’m going to take the pills and try to make some lifestyle changes. One of those requires REAL exercise. I guess Green Hour will have to be daily, and blog time will have to be – well – TIMEd.
Timing your computer fun is ok, I guess… as long as there’s not a blog party going on. Because that is too difficult to resist. Like chocolate chip cookies or Michael Kors cologne when you have a “Ben Frankie” to spare in your wallet (which is rare in my case). You get the picture.
AND… my blogging time is up today. Already. I haven’t even chosen what prizes I want. I guess I’ll have to forgo the visiting tomorrow and get to the business of party favors so I don’t get left behind. But seriously… I think maybe next year the twins should consider making this party last about a month or so… or maybe just having the visiting time last a week longer before prizes are given out? What do you think?
Better get back to real life. Before I don’t have one anymore!

Whew, I just went through something similar. Heart attack? No (thanks, Lord) Acid reflux? Nope. Hiatal hernia? Nope. Gall bladdar? Yep!
The ole gall bladder w/ its rock collection is now gone. Sadly, a gall bladder doesn’t weigh much so I still have a few pounds to lose. But now I can sleep and life is back to normal.

Thanks for dropping by my blog! I read about your GERD problem and I just wanted to suggest a product that helped me when I had indigestion:
http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=3719
It cured my problem and it is all natural. Of course you would need to change your diet to keep the issue from recurring but at least this might keep you out of the doctor’s office!!
Blessings!

Whoa. I didn’t think “Chair in butt” would be good for the digestive tract either. But then again neither would “butt in chair”…(Sorry couldn’t resist)
Sprittibee says
sheri – I can’t believe I did that! Hahaha. I was crying I was laughing so hard. I fixed it. 🙂 Thanks! I bet a chair shoved up your hiney would be quite a digestive obstacle!
Lynn – I have heard of that before – the Gall bladder thing. My granddad had a hiatal hernia. The doc seems to think this was more of 1. a bacterial thing (which is most common from people who eat out frequently), or 2. GERD. She did a blood test. Hopefully it is just a quick fix! Yet – It made me start thinking about my diet. I’ve been watching my portion sizes and trying to make good choices. Today I didn’t take any medicine and the symptoms are milder than they have been in a week. I’m hoping that I won’t have to be on meds forever.
Mandy Ray-Jones – I’ll have to check out your suggestion. 🙂 I like all natural! Anything that will help!
Sprittibee says
Sheri – 😉 I’m still laughing. I guess you can’t spell check for stupidity.

Being super high risk for gall bladder disease, I feel your pain. I’m dreading it and any day now, I’m gonna start eating right!
Thanks for sharing!

Love the header on your blog! So cute! The pic of your kids on the magazine cover is so adorable, too! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Party on!

About the party, I so totally agree. I will never have time to read them all in only a week.
About your GERD. So sorry. I had some trouble a few years back. Hiatal hernia was my diagnosis. Apparently, it can be caused by pregnancy…esp when you have large babies.

I SO WISH I had seen the “chair in butt” thing! That would have been awesome! lol
I have severe GERD too. No meds help. I can’t have coffee, spicy foods, too much tomato sauce, or milk and I have taken every kind of prescribed meds they can give a person and they didn’t work. That is until I tried Heartburn Free. It is all natural and I got it from the Whole Foods store. You only take one every other day for twenty days and it is good for three months… and it works! It is alot cheaper than the meds too. Just a thought.
Now get that chair out of your behind and PARTY!!! :o) The sad thing is I have yet to enter a single contest. My whole crew is sick again!

Love your blog. I have to hand it to you home-schooling moms! I don’t know how you do it. I can’t even get past homework with mine! LOL! I added you to my fav sites!

P.S. I love McDonald’s too!! 🙂

Thanks for partying on my blog! Thought I’d hop over to see your blog. I like what I see. The post I read made me giggle. NOT that you are suffering from GERD, but all the other mixed emotions. the stuff you have to do -vs- moderating comments on your blog, posting and partying!
Will visit back soon
take care of yourself and have a great day.

I’m laughing about “chair in butt” and I didn’t even see the typo. That just sounds like something I’d do. Ouch. 🙂
Hope you get to feeling better! I’ve never heard of GERD, but it doesn’t sound fun. 🙁
Peace,
Cindy.

Thanks for dropping by! You just reminded me… I haven’t chosen my desired prize… I’ve been having waaaaaay too much blog hopping… Whew… I need a break! 😉

Just wanted you to know I feel your pain…literally. I’ve had GERD for several years. It’s no fun but I hope I can offer some encouragement.
The good news is you can get it under control. I hardly ever need meds for it anymore and I haven’t given up spicy foods completely. Cut back yes. I won’t give up coffee LOL! I don’t look like a supermodel.
All those things you mentioned will help, but even small changes can make a huge difference. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
You’ll be in my prayers. 🙂
“chair in butt” – how did I miss that? Must be my poor blog strained eyes.

Licorice tea or capsules as a supplement will help the GERD!
And, I gave up coffee and tea and it was cured in two weeks. Though the docs didn’t bother to tell me to do that, they just gave me a prescription.

Sprittibee,
I’m so sorry that you’re going through all that! My best friend is undergoing something similar, but up here in Canada she doesn’t have a family doctor and she’s had three tests in 14 weeks but there’s nobody to follow the tests, so she still doesn’t have an appointment with a specialist to actually diagnose it. DON’T GET SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, PEOPLE!
Anyway, enough of that. I have to limit my computer time, too, for back health and, oh yeah, so I can actually see my kids. It’s not easy. I feel your pain! That pain, at least.
Take care,
Visit To Love, Honor and Vacuum today!

Last year I was so totally into the blog party, and this year I just wasn’t. I’m sure a large part of it was that my great-aunt’s visitation was the night before it started; therefore my post went up so late that it was in the 700s on the list! I think I visited yours and one other one, and that was it. 🙂
I am dealing with the weight gain, butt in chair, too much McDonald’s (Monday and Tuesday night’s supper, thanks to baseball tourneys this week). Love those fries (when total strangers don’t grab ’em, ya know? – wink, wink!). Glad you’re okay, but sorry about the loss of enchiladas. 🙁
