I decided to do the research for myself (there were a couple flower names out of the above images I didn’t know, either). I just couldn’t wait any longer for the answers. It was bugging me. So I tracked them all down to their Latin names. It had to be done.
Here they are in case you were wondering… along with another copy of the photo (below) for easy reference…. (Impossible to pick favorites!). The highlighted are the ones I have seeds for.
Wildflowers by Row:
1. White Prickly Poppy, Lemon Beebalm, Orange Bulbine, Limestone Gaura – Gaura calcicola (Texas Beeblossom)
2. Texas Thistle, Firewheel, Mums, Bluebonnet
3. Bishop’s Weed, Purple Bindweed (Wild Morning Glory), Buttercup, Star Thistle (Basketflower)
4. Mexican Hats, Vitex/Texas Chaste Tree, Tulip Prickly Pear, Dessert Willow
Now I can go to sleep. I learned something new today. Check back in tomorrow… maybe I’ll share that corn salad recipe, or the garden photos (I’ve got lots of sprouts!), or something else random and interesting. You just never can tell about me.
Oh, and just in case you haven’t seen the lovely Star Thistle (which I call Lion’s Head Thistle) in full bloom as a stunning CUT flower… I’ll leave you with this wonderful sight:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You wildflowers are so much more prettiful than our dry foxtails. We can hardly wait. (fyi-found out they are best to plant in spring but can go in early summer if well watered until they become established.) We probably can’t wait until next spring so we just might start the day they arrive. thanks again!
