I purchased a frog dissection app for my TEENAGERS and the 4 year old ended up becoming enthralled by it. Seriously!
He likes to talk about what each organ does now that he has become our youngest “medical” student. He told his grandma we let him “cut up the froggie”. I’m not sure how that will help her opinion of our parenting skills or homeschooling, but we think he’s a smart little cookie for sure!
I’d much rather him dissect a virtual frog at 4 (and learn some things about science and biology) than play mindless video games like “Plants and Zombies” with the iPad. If he’s interested in it, why not?
The big kids had a dissection today in real life at their one-day class for Apologia Biology. I’ve been informed that a crawfish’s brain is below his mouth. That was discussed at the dinner table. Fun.
I’m going to let them take the iPad to school after Spring Break (which is next week for us) and show the rest of their class this amazing app.
Check it out for yourself here:

*this App is outdated and the give-away has been completed, but you can most likely find something similar in the App Store if you search by keyword! Good luck!* (post updated 2019)
It also has a few frog videos, charts that compare human internal organs to frogs’, frog life cycle charts and graphics, etc. I was really impressed with the app – so much that I have asked Punflay.com if I could give a code away for this app.
Would you be interested in trying it out for your homeschoolers?
