I’m a homeschool mom… yes – but I’m a photographer and blogger in my “other life” (read: scarce free time). I process life in words and images. Can’t help it.
I haven’t had time stew the stuff I learned or connect with the people I met at Blog Elevated because I’ve been editing photos for the past couple of days. Too bad you have to eat, homeschool, and unpack after conferences – or I’d be a lot faster at photo-turn-around.
I sent my lens rental back Monday and I’ll be getting another lens tomorrow for a retreat I’m attending… where I’m SPEAKING (prayer and positive thoughts coveted). My church wanted me to take pictures for the women’s retreat as well, and how could I say no?
Secretly hoping for a few moments out in nature in-between clicks… this Texas fall weather is divine.
I will be glad to be done with weekend conferences and retreats, though. I need a few normal, monotonous, uneventful weekends to recharge my introvert batteries and get caught up with all our projects and school work around here.
It seems that teenagers aren’t as good with independent list-oriented schoolwork as I thought they would be when I left last Thursday… because we had to cancel Monday’s English III co-op to get caught up with last week’s work. There was a lot of whining because not doing English co-op is seen as a cruel and unusual punishment. English runs deep in my family (even if I tend to butcher it a little while blogging).
Did you stop in to see the images from Blog Elevated? I’ve uploaded 260 of my favorites to my photography website. Click over and go see all of them (well, half of them… there were 480 or so FINALS and I only uploaded 260).

I loved the speaker choices. Even when the blue carpet and blue shirts makes them look smurfish. I could have fixed that in Lightroom. I blame it on the Sleep water they handed out in my swag bag (liquid melatonin makes my editing eyes droopy).
I loved the community feel and down-to-earth speakers they chose. When I go to blogging conferences, I always come away with new skills and inspiration for my blogging, my photography, my passions. This year was no different at Blog Elevated.
I’m trying to twist their arm to hold next year’s conference in Austin. Would you come and see me there?
