I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time on my blog… a creative Sunday spotlight. I decided recently that I wanted to get back in to blogging as an outlet and let the numbers go where they may. I don’t blog as a business, even though it is part of my photography business. I have always blogged for enjoyment. Sure, there are bloggers who make lots of money doing it… but they are few and far between if you consider how many millions of blogs there are. I considered quitting for a while during particularly difficult times – we all have them eventually… but blogging is a creative outlet, and as an artist at heart, I need more of those type of things in my life, not less.
And so, the CREATION Sunday Series is born. Been a long time, comin’ baby!
What do you love to create? I love all types of art. The obvious one if you have spent any time here on my blog is PHOTOGRAPHY. Then there’s painting, drawing, DIY, sewing (which I’m really no good at YET), flower arranging, make up artistry, gardening (yes potting plants and growing food is creative)… and my other true creative love: FOODIE MAGIC – COOKING!
So in honor of being created in His image, I thought I would share a little creative bit each Sunday. It might be just an image, a poem, a song, some artwork, or a spotlight on someone else’s art. Most weeks, I will also include a scripture.
What are you working on right now? For me, my creative abilities are focused mostly on cooking right now (planning, and following through with the menu to keep our family fed on a dime right now). Tonight’s dinner was Israeli cous-cous salad, falafels, carrot strips, pickle strips, Jewish cucumber salad, and tzatziki (yogurt sauce that I could drink by the gallon).
I figure if I love all these foods, I need to make them at home and save lots of money, right?! That’s where the creative comes in… you have to be willing to create – to try and fail until you get it right… or at least right enough! There’s always room to improve.
We love food. We love GOOD food. We also have to eat organic food — which can be expensive (for health reasons)… so getting creative is a must! Being organized and creative together is a sweet combo, and I love thinking that God is like that – He’s an orderly God, yet the most creative dude of all time. I mean, you just have to go outside to see those painted sunsets, or watch a National Geographic show about creatures under the ocean to be in awe.
Maybe you can help me stay accountable to use my creative side each week? Art should not end in elementary school. We all are artists… some of us just haven’t learned that no one is expecting perfection.
Hope you will stop in each Sunday and be part of the fun… leave me a comment so I’ll know you were here! We artists need to stick together.

Exodus 35:30-33 “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with allcraftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft.”
